Die Klassische „Odenwaldtour“

Now to the hard facts of the “

Odenwald Tour

“:

The total distance is 101.4 kilometers and the journey takes 2 hours. The best time of year to do the tour is from March to October, and most of the route is on asphalt roads.

This idyllic route through the picturesque Odenwald starts in the town of Amorbach. From there, you set off in the direction of Miltenberg, where the Franciscan monastery of Engelberg is the perfect place for your first stop. In addition to the historic halls of the monastery building, you can also explore the associated beer garden of the Kloster-Schänke.

The route continues via Freudenberg to Wertheim. The impressive Wertheim Castle sits enthroned on a hill above the town. Once you have experienced the view from the ruins, you will know why you should definitely make a stop there. The unique panoramic view extends over Wertheim’s romantic old town to the river landscapes of the Main and Tauber rivers. The Odenwald tour then leads you on towards Külsheim and Walldürn. For those of you who still have a taste for history and splendor, we would recommend a penultimate stop at the Walldürn pilgrimage basilica. Shortly before you reach Amorbach again, the route takes you past beech trees. Once you arrive in Buchen, you can round off your Odenwald tour with a short detour to Eberstadt to explore the Eberstadt stalactite caves. Then it’s back to the historic town of Amorbach. Once there, there’s nothing left to do but toast the eventful day and the promising tour!

Die Aussichtsreiche „Flusslandschaftstour“

The Odenwald not only has paradisiacal forests and green hilly landscapes to offer, but also a distinctive river landscape. In addition to the Upper Rhine and Neckar, which run directly through the Odenwald, the Main and the surrounding towns can be explored on this motorcycle tour.

The start of this scenic river landscape tour is the town of Wertheim (approx. 45 minutes from Amorbach) and from there you head straight towards Urphar. This is also the location of one of the most impressive panoramic stops on this tour – the Spitze Turm. It is one of Wertheim’s most striking sights alongside the ruins of the Steinburg castle mentioned above.

The tour continues via Homburg, Marktheidenfeld, Hafenlohr and Windheim. Windheim Lichtenau, Rothenbuch to Lohr and Gemünden. These two towns offer incomparable views over the course of the River Main as well as the historic buildings of Lohr Castle and the ruins of Scherenburg Castle. As well as being the perfect place to stop, these two also offer a wealth of cultural and historical knowledge. As the tour ends in Gemünden, this is the perfect place to stop for refreshments at the local restaurants to give you enough energy for the journey home.

The best route home is via Gemünden, Lohr, Hafenlohr, Marktheidenfeld, Homburg and Urphar. In contrast to the outward journey, you skip the villages from Rothenbuch to Windheim and take the somewhat more direct, but still panoramic return route.

Now to the hard facts of the “

Our hard facts about the “

Romantic Road Tour
